The Masterwork Study of Graziella project for Drawing I (Part B) focused on copying a masterwork art piece with at least one figure. I selected the painting of Graziella by Jules Joseph Lefebvre for its atmospheric quality, subtle realism, and its understated composition, allowing the figure to become the main focal point. The simplicity of the figure and pose allowed for an exploration of light, depth, and tonal variation with brush and ink. The time spent refining values deepened my appreciation for Jules Joseph Lefebvre’s attention to detail and the importance of patience and process in achieving visual clarity.
